Field Mapping
How to setup custom field mapping
Champify provides enterprise-grade field mapping capabilities, for both reading from and writing to fields in your Salesforce.
Champify provides mappings for the following Salesforce objects:
- Account
- Contact
- Lead
- Opportunity
We categorize our field mapping capabilities into two groups: default and custom.
Default field mappings
Default field mappings are fields that Champify writes to by default; for example, Account Industry, or Contact Title. For default mappings, you can choose to skip them, but you can’t switch which field they write to. It’s binary: you can either write to the default field, or skip writing the field altogether. See the complete list of fields we write to here.
Custom field mappings
Custom field mappings are fields that you have full control over. In some of these cases, Champify does not write to or read from any field by default; e.g., Person LinkedIn URL.
You can specify both the field to read from or write to, and whether to hard overwrite the value. Hard overwriting means that Champify will write to the field regardless of whether a value already exists on the field. Champify will only overwrite existing values if this setting is provided.
Recommended Mappings
Here we’ll overview mappings that we recommend you set, and why.
- Person - LinkedIn URL: if you already set this value on your Contact or Lead records, we’ll use this value as the source of truth for the individual’s LinkedIn profile. Don’t worry about cleaning it up if it’s messy, our software will do that automatically.
- Company - LinkedIn URL: set this value to improve account matching when we create or update new contacts or leads.
Skip a Default Mapping
- Open the Champify Admin. See "How can I access the Champify Admin?” in Frequently Asked Questions.
- Click on “Field Mapping” in the sidebar.
- Navigate to the field you’d like to skip writing to, click the edit button in the “Skip Default Mapping?” column, check the box, and click save.
Write to a Custom Field
- Open the Champify Admin. See "How can I access the Champify Admin?” in Frequently Asked Questions.
- Click on “Field Mapping” in the sidebar.
- Navigate to the field you’d like Champify to write to, click the edit button in the “Salesforce Field” column, select the field you’d like to write to, and click save. Optionally, edit the “Hard Overwrite?” checkbox to write the value, even if one already exists.
Set up data normalization
For customers that use a picklist for their country format and state format fields, we will automatically match to the format of the picklist.
For customers who do not use a picklist field type,
- Open the Champify Admin
- Click on Field Mapping in the sidebar
- If you do not use a picklist, a third section called “Address Format” will exist on the Accounts page.
- Use the drop down to select the Country Code and State Code format we should leverage when creating new contacts, accounts, and leads.
